It's probably a good idea to start a house blog about our house with some history of... our house! My husband, Jim, and I bought our house 8 years ago in June 2002. We looked for houses for nearly 1 year before we fell in love with our lovely abode. We had focused our house hunting in the North Arlington neighborhoods near the Metro, but it took us a while to realize that we were never going to find what we wanted within our budget in those neighborhoods. So, like most people do when buying a home - we sacrificed location (or at least it felt that way at the time). BUT, when I walked into the 1940 brick colonial the first words out of my mouth were "We're buying this house." Of course, I was standing on hideous vinyl floor, next to a faux brick planter, and overlooking yellow carpet everywhere. I was already envisioning where we would put our Christmas tree 6 months from then. I think our very patient realtor almost fell over backwards when she heard those words come out of my mouth.
We lucked out and put in the only reasonable offer in a red hot real estate market. It was accepted even though it was below asking price - unheard of in the summer of 2002! It was meant to be!
So, the rest is history. We spent the next 8 years redecorating, remodeling, and renovating our brick colonial. I'll fill you in on the details of our many projects both past and present so come back often!
